Meet Kevin

Hey and welcome to my “side hustle” and lifestyle blog! I created this blog in order to help me improve my finances (for example to pay off $40,000 in unsecured debt in 6 months), keep track of my progress, and to help you improve your finances along the way.

My name is Kevin and I am currently: working from home / working while traveling.

Talking about yourself is lame so I’ll keep it short. Here’s my life so far in bullets:

  • Small-town kid from the South
  • College >> Army >> Corporate drone
  • Self-employed at 38 (thanks internet)
  • First Million dollar year in 2014 (thanks Facebook)
  • Married with children (thanks intercourse)
  • Just stupid-blessed

Today I’m busy as ever, loving life, and spend my days studying marketing and personal growth. I’m gonna show you most of what I know and (attempt to) sell you the rest. Wink.

I hope you’ll laugh a little and learn a lot.

You can follow my monthly income updates where I discuss how I make a full-time income online, which I’ll post here soon.

Speaking of money.

You may think it’s the root of all evil, the main driving force of society, or just a means to keep on livin’, but money is and will always be an important part of our everyday lives. It’s how we put food on the table, keep a roof over our heads, and enjoy life. But even though it’s a part of everything we do, there’s still this stigma hovering over it.

Where I grew up, talking about money is still a taboo subject. We don’t share how much we make, how much our homes cost, or the bills we rack up. ‘Cept me, I’ll be sharing my monthly income reports here.

I don’t know if that’s something passed down through the generations or where it even started, but talking about money makes people uncomfortable, plain and simple.

But I don’t think it should.

Now I’m not saying you should start blasting your income to all your friends – you’ll definitely get some uncomfortable stares and “Will homie’ ever shut up?” body language back.

It’s not about being braggy about money. What I am saying is that it’s time to bring money to the real conversation because how you relate to money will determine how you use it.

The way you feel about how you make, spend, and use your money says a lot about you as a person and as a creator.

Are you proud of your work?

Do spend your money on things that are uplifting?

Are you using it wisely to plan for you and your family’s future?

Or are you constantly waiting to hit some magical number you deem enough, before you think you can finally lead that life you want?

I can guarantee if that last statement feels true, you’re going to spend too much time and energy with the wrong mentality.

That’s why talking about money is so important. You need to learn how to use what you’ve worked for to the best of your abilities.

This website, Side Hustle Skills, is about helping you do that as an online creator. Money may not be the trendy or “secksy” thing to talk about, but it’s one of the most important aspects of running your life / business. You need to know how to use it, when to use it, and how to do some good in the world with it.

So let’s talk money.
